Activity accelerated in the 50s and 60s with new products such as cold adhesives, and through international expansion. The 70s saw the use of an innovative new membrane from Italy: the double reinforced DERBIGUM. In 1978 the Italian factory was closed and DERBIGUM production began in Perwez, Belgium. This was followed four years later by an employee buy-out of the plant.

 

In 1979 a DERBIGUM factory was constructed in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. During 2000-2001, subsidiaries were established in Germany, Switzerland and Poland. The year 2005 saw a general restructuring in the European market strengthening the group’s core activities and international development. In 2006 services were centralized at the group’s world headquarters in Lot, the starting point of the DERBIGUM story. Today, DERBIGUM  has 350 employees, the company is presented across Europe, in the USA, Africa and Asia. Yearly the three production sites- two in Belgium and one in the USA-  turn out 15 million sq.m. of DERBIGUM membranes and 3.5 million kg of liquid products.

A DERBIGUM roof will last more than 30 years, double the lifespan of standard roofing materials. Studies by eight independent institutes have unanimously confirmed the durability of Derbigum products. Many examples can be found of buildings protected by DERBIGUM roofing three decades after its installation.
